Episode Twelve

Prince Eric

The doorbell and I ran towards it after taking a quick survey of the living room.

Everything is perfect.

I was dressed in a casual wears for the dinner with my betrothed.

“Hey” she waved her perfect manicured fingers filled with golden rings each.

“Hi” I answered and motioned for her to come in.

As she passed, I caught a whiff of her perfume, the smell is very sharp and unpleasing unlike Daisy who always smell of vanilla and home and doesn’t even need perfume to smell nice.

I shook my head at the thought of comparing my betrothed with Daisy.

I turned and led her to the living room, taking a seat opposite her. I looked at her face closely, she had too much make up unlike Daisy who doesn’t need to enhance her features with anything artificial, She’s always beautiful naturally and wouldn’t dress flashy like the lady sitting in front of me.

“You must be Eric I guess” she said, smiling broadly. Daisy wouldn’t smile these broad and wouldn’t ask silly questions.

I shook my head hard to clear thoughts of Daisy and concentrated in the lady sitting in front of me.

“Yeah” I replied giving a half shrug.

“I’m Julie” she introduced

“Nice name” I gave a small smile and opened the wine I set on the table. “Do you care?”

“Yeah thanks” she answered.

“So let’s get to know each other” I attempted at a conversation.

“Yeah sure” she took a sip and stared at me “I hate cooking, it gets on my nerves”

I looked at her in surprise and stayed still as she continued “I love attending functions, that’s the best. And yeah, I really love shopping. It’s what makes my day and then our s£x life, well we’d do something about that when the time comes. We’d do it once in two months, that should work out right since you know, both of us aren’t in for love”

“Yeah yeah” I agreed in a daze, my thoughts strayed over to Daisy again and I found myself comparing every part of Julie to Daisy’s.

“Hellooooooo” Julie’s soft voice broke through my thoughts.

“Oh sorry, yeah everything will work out perfectly okay” I replied since I had no idea of what she had earlier said “we can proceed with the wedding then?”

“Yeah we can but I have a function to attend next tommorow so can we shift it to tomorrow evening?”

“Totally, I’ll just have to call mum”

“Where can I get a cup of coffee?” She asked.

“You can brew the coffee yourself” I told, eyeing her a little as she scrunched up her face.

“I have my fingers to protect. I can’t brew a coffee” she lamented “Can you make one me?”

I pursed my lips but stood up anyway to make her coffee.

I’m just going to marry her to make my mind of Daisy and start working.

Daisy

“The prince is getting tomorrow evening” Tina exclaimed behind me.

“That’s good news” I replied and continued flipping through the TV channels.

“Why are you sad? Shouldn’t you be happy you did well?” Tina asked.

I hadn’t told her or my family what really happened in the prince’s place and how I’m in love with him.

“I’m happy for him” I blinked back the tears that threatened to fall.

Tina eyed me dubiously but didn’t ask any more questions.

“Can we get a ticket to Russia asap?” I asked.

“Why? We agreed on going on a vacation next weekend, why the sudden change of mind?” She asked.

I shrugged in response “can we?”

“Maybe you can, we’d join you there”

“Perhaps we should relocated there”I suggested and left her room quickly to the living room where I left my phone.

The instant I walked into the living room, my phone rang.

I looked at the caller’s ID and unwillingly answered.

“The prince is getting married tomorrow!” The person said excitedly.

“Why does everyone keep telling me that?!” I screamed in frustration.

“Ouch, are you okay?” Zena asked.

“No I’m not” I replied honestly

“Want me to do anything for you?”

“Yeah” I thought quickly “I want the fastest ticket to Russia”

“Ohh hold on a minute” she said.

I heard the taps of keyboard, she’s probably checking the net.

“I can only get you a ticket tomorrow’s evening”

“Can’t something be done in the afternoon?” I persuaded.

“I’m sorry no, only tomorrow evening.”

“Okay thank you, how do I pay you to book for the ticket?”

“I’ll take care of the expenses. It’s the best I can do since you’re not willing to collect your reward.”

“I told you I don’t need it” I said firmly.

“Yeah yeah” I’ll send the ticket to your email, then you can print it out and take to the airport tomorrow.

“Thank you” I said gratefully and hung up.

Next day

I rolled my bags to the attendant and showed her my ticket.

I was allowed entrance into the plane after the securities searched me.

I sat beside the window with a very heavy heart, the prince will probably be in his wedding now. In the end, I only got hurt. All fault is on me.

The plane is leaving in ten minutes.” A voice said through the speakers. Prince Eric

I stood at the altar, looking at the woman before me in a white gown and all of a sudden, I saw Daisy standing far behind Julie with a sad face, looking at me with teary eyes.

I tried shaking off the image but it didn’t budge.

A lone tear escaped from my eyes and I felt I was doing a mistake.

“I understand you’re shedding tears of joy, I’m a little happy too” Julie whispered to me.

“Do you take this man, Prince Eric Harris, to be your husband, to be with him in times of trouble and happiness, through thick and thin till death do you apart?”

“Yes I do” Julie answered

The Priest turned to me “Do you take this woman, Julie Kells, to be your wife, be with her in times of trouble and happiness, through thick and thin till death do you apart?” He asked.

I looked at Julie again, do I want to be with her through thick and thin till death do us apart?

I knew my answer deep down so instead, I gently dropped her hands and looked at her intently.

“No” I said in a loud voice, ignoring the gasp that arose from the audience, I ran out. Hoping to find Daisy, the only one in my thoughts.

I drove recklessly to her house after receiving the address from my detective.

“Hi, is Daisy in?” I asked the girl I saw, going straight to the point.

“No, she travelled”

“Where?”

“Out of the country, to Russia” the girl replied. “Aren’t you the prince?”

“Can you call and tell her to wait?” I pleaded.

“I’m sorry I can’t, she boarded the plane about thirty minutes ago, they might have taken off”

I turned around and entered my car, driving fast to the airport as I listened to Zena give out instructions.

“Who are you search for again?” She asked through the phone.

“Daisy”

“Omg, I bought the ticket for her and told her I’ll take care of the expenses since she wouldn’t collect the reward from me” Zena said.

I pressed the brakes hard “what did you just say?”

“That I bought the ticket for her?”

“No no, the other part”

“Where she didn’t collect the reward?”

“She didn’t?” I asked again.

“Yeah, said she doesn’t need it”

Omg!!! I had judged too quickly.

I hit on the accelerator and rushed into the airport.

I went to first desk I saw “is Russia Air still on board?” “I’m sorry no, it took off seven minutes ago” she replied.

I took an involuntary step backward, she left, I was too late.
